Viridian eyes rapid growth from sales of nuclear sensors

Enterprise Europe Network helps ambitious businesses grow internationally and Kym Jarvis has been receiving advice and EEN has helped Viridian’s business by providing recruitment training to secure two new engineers to support trials; sales and export training; as well as support on gaining patents. Kym says "The support from the EEN came at the perfect time for us and has been extremely valuable"

Kym talks about the use of robots in the nuclear industry

Kym's interview forms part of Innovate UK's very first podcast.

Kym talks about the use of robots in the nuclear industry
In this episode they are looking at the state of play in the robotics industry.
They say 'We investigate where the tech is, what the challenges are, and whether there's anything hindering progress. After that we get stuck into the commercial opportunities that exist for companies that can solve these problems. Then we take a look at potential future applications of the tech that's being developed now. Of course we couldn't do a whole episode about robotics without answering the question, "Will robots take our jobs?" So we do our best to address that, too. Kym speaks at the Palace of Westminster!

Innovate UK celebrated International Women’s day at the House of Commons with a ‘Women in Innovation’ event.

Kym speaks at the Palace of Westminster! Three winners of the Infocus Women in Innovation award were invited to speak about their experiences and Kym was pleased to be one of them. Innovate UK consider the awards a great success and have announced a second round. The support given to Viridian during Kym’s year as winner has certainly been a success in our eyes.

Definitely safer, cleaner and faster!

Our third trial of ViridiScope is very different to the previous deployments.

Definitely safer, cleaner and faster!

We are characterising  a concrete core by moving the laser sampler slowly around its circumference so our samples can be taken straight to the counting equipment in their pods. Much safer, cleaner and faster than the traditional approach of sawing the core into slices before grinding them into a powder.

Fetch more pods!

Our engineers have been busy constructing our sampling pods ready for use at our second operational nuclear site.

Fetch more pods! This deployment involves the systematic characterisation of a large floor area that will result in over a hundred concrete samples being collected and counted in just five short working days for alpha activity close to and below background. We will be returning after a few months to deploy an ROV to sample inaccessible areas.
