We will REACH ‘difficult to access’ areas on nuclear sites

It is funded through Innovate UK, designed to develop nuclear characterisation tools capable of remotely accessing confined spaces.
Our laser sampling tool, ViridiScope, is being adapted to fire sideways and reduced in size to permit it to be deployed in pipes and voids as small as 10 cm in diameter and at 40 m distance from the control electronics. Createc are miniaturising their existing N-Visage scanner to pass through a standard 10cm nuclear cell penetration.
There are many commercially available robotic systems and adding individual tools to each of these systems requires a new complex design for each deployment system. Our solution is to design a universal fitting for our tools and a coupling system that can be adapted for any robot.
A non-active demonstration will be held early next year at UKAEA RACE and stakeholders from across the nuclear industry are welcome – contact enquiries@viridian-tc.co.uk
